Michael J. Strumasser, Esquire Special Counsel to the Attorney General 3580 Wilshire Boulevard Suite 600 Los Angeles, CA 90010

Subject:

Pacific Gas and Electric Company (Diablo Canyon Nuclear Project Units 1 and 2), Docket Nos. 50-275 OL, 50-323 OL

Dear Mr. Strumasser:

In the Responses to Interrogatories 3,9(A) and 40(a) and (b) of your Second Set of Interrogatories, the IDVP stated that it would update the status of IDVP and DCP work not yet completed in light of the July 27-28, 1983, open meeting between the IDVP and DCP. The purpose of this letter is to provide that updated information.

The open meeting between the IDVP and DCP was completed in less than one day and, with a few exceptions, the IDVP confirmed the dates set forth in the July 22, 1983, Semimonthly Report. At the meeting. Dr.

Cloud made a presentation describing the status of IDVP work and the items remaining to be completed. Copies of the slides used by Dr. Cloud in his presentation were distributed to the attendees. I have enclosed a copy with this letter in the e/ent that you did not receive one from the State's representative. These slides describe the status of the remaining E01's, including the information the IDVP requires from the DCP to close them out. No dates were established for rec.cipt of such information from the DCP.

The slides also set forth the expected issuance dates for remaining ITR's. Dr. Cloud confirmed that the IDVP will meet most of the completion dates set forth in the July 22, 1983, Semimon.thly Report although there may be slippage of several days' duration for a few of the remaining ITR's. The work remaining to complete each of the ITR's was discussed, and Dr. Cloud stated that ITR's 64 and 67, in particular, are likely to be conpleted sometime after the dates stated'in the latest Semimonthly Report.
