Dear Sirs:

My name is Timothy Gilbride and I am employed as a Chemistry and Radiation Protection Technician with Pacific Gas & Electric at Diablo Canyon. I am writing in regards to your sccking public comment on changing the current drug testing policies at Nuclear Power Plants.

I am in favor of changing the current drug testing policies to exclude all personnel in none safety related positions.

I feel that past random drug testing has showed that there is not a drug problem and has already wecded out those individuals who use illegal drugs. I don't see how continued random drug testing would be to the benefit of the nuclear industry, in the near future our industry is facing drastic changes with the onset of retail wheeling and we are being forced to be co.apetitive with other power generators' who do not have the regulation that the nuclear industry has. As part of being competitive we must look at every way possible to reduce costs and I feel that we cannot afford the luxury of random drug testing every person with access into the protected area and who do not perform safety related functions.

Thank you for your time.

Sincerely, T mothy S 7 Gi ri ,,9 r.fM $/ t )(u '
