WOLF CREEK NUCLEAR OPERATING CORPORATION FACILITY:

WOLF CREEK GENERATING STATION

SUBJECT:

SUMMARY

OF JANUARY 15,2009, CATEGORY 1 PRE-LICENSING MEETING WITH WOLF CREEK NUCLEAR OPERATING CORPORATION ON POST-FIRE SHUTDOWN ANALYSIS METHODS (TAC NO. ME0280) On January 15, 2009, a public meeting was held between the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC), and representatives of Wolf Creek Nuclear Operating Corporation (WCNOC, the licensee), at NRC Headquarters, Executive Boulevard Building, 6003 Executive Boulevard, Rockville, MD. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss changes to the Wolf Creek Generating Station (WCGS) post-fire safe shutdown analysis methods. A list of meeting attendees is enclosed.

Additionally, the licensee's slides presented at the meeting are located in the Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) Accession No. ML09021 0242. The licensee presented information on how it would formulate the license amendment application regarding the WCGS Post-Fire Safe Shutdown Unresolved Items. The licensee described the proposed changes to the post-fire safe shutdown analysis methods for the WCGS relating to fire induced closure of reactor coolant pump seal injection valves and methods used for cable analysis of pressurized power operated relief valves. The purpose of the meeting was to obtain NRC staff comments and feedback whether the proposed methods are reasonable.

As a Category 1 meeting, the public was invited to observe and was given an opportunity to communicate with the NRC after the business portion, but before the meeting was adjourned.

Public Meeting Feedback forms were not received.
