1.0INTRODUCTION

ThisAppendixtotheGinnaStationQualityAssuranceManualestablishesanddefinestheInservicePumpandValveTestingProgramforthetenyearintervalfromJanuaryl,l990throughDecember3l,1999.ThisprogramhasbeendevelopedasrequiredbyTitle10CodeofFederalRegulationsPart50Paragraph50.SSa(g),inaccordancewiththeASMEBoilerandPressureVesselCode-SectionXI-"RulesforInserviceInspectionofNuclearPowerPlantComponents".1.2ThepurposeofthisInserviceTestingProgramistoverifyoperationalreadinessofthosepumpsandvalveswhosefunctionisrequiredforsafety.ItisnotintendedtoplacetheR.E.Ginnaplantinadegradedsafetyconditionforthepurposeofconductingsystemorcomponenttests.Therefore,asnormallyviewedforCodecompliance,testingofasafetytrainwillnotbeperformedwhentheredundanttrainisoutofservice.Instead,equipmentwillbepositionedtoprovidethenecessarysafetylineup.Pumpsandvalvesincludedintheprogram,arethoseinsystemsorportionsofsystems(Section8.0-SystemIndex)whicharerequiredtoaccomplishspecifiedsafetyfunctionsortasks,asidentifiedwithinvariousplantsafetyanalyses.1.3InadditiontothosepumpsandvalvesrequiredtobetestedbytheCode,othercomponentsareincludedintheprogramfromagoodengineeringandmanagementpracticestandpoint.Thesecomponentsareidentifiedwithanasterisk(*)andneednotbetestedtospecificCodecriteria.1.4The~ISTProgramsubstantiallyaugments(butdoesnot'ffect,replace,orsupersede)thepumpandvalvesurveillanceprogramrequiredbyTechnicalSpecifications.TechnicalSpecificationrequirementsassociatedwithpump,andvalvesurveillancesshallcontinuetobeimplementedasspecified.
