QUALITYASSURANCEMANUALGINNASTATIONTITLEiAPPENDIXCPumpandValveTestingProgramDATEPAGE537OFPumandValveTestinProramPVT1.0ScoeandResonsibilit1.2TheinservicetestingprogramdefinesthetestingprogramforQualityGroupsA,BandCPumpsandValvesinaccordancewiththerequirementsofArticlesIWPandIWVofSectionXIoftheCode.Theresultsofthesetestsaretoassuretheoperationalreadinessofpumpsandvalves.ItistheresponsibilityoftheGinnaStationTestandResultsSupervisortoimplementthistestprogramanddevelopinservicetestproce-dureswhichwilloutlinethespecifictestforeachpumpandvalveincludedintheprogram.1.3Whenavalve,pumporitscontrolsystemhasbeenreplacedorrepairedorhasundergonemaintenancethatcouldaffectitsperformance,andpriortothetimeitisreturnedtoservice,itshallbetestedasnecessarytodemonstratethat,theper-formanceparameterswhichcouldhavebeenaffectedbythereplacement,repair,ormaintenancearewithinacceptablelimits.PVT2.02.1CodeEditionandTestinIntervalJTheInservicePumpandValveTestingProgramfortheten(10)yearperiodstartingJanuary1,1981throughDecember31,1990wasdevelopedutilizingthe1977EditionofSectionXIoftheCodethroughtheSummer1978Addenda.PVT3.0InservicePumTestinProram3.1TheInservicePumpTestingProgramwasdevelopedinaccordancewiththerequirementsofArticleIWPofSectionXIoftheCode.ThisprogramincludesallQualityGroupA,BandCpumpswhichareprovidedwithanemergencypowersourceandarerequiredtoperformaspecificfunctioninshuttingdownareactororinmitigatingtheconsequencesofanaccidentandmaintainthereactorinasafeshutdowncondition.

I(1J.V QUALITYASSURANCEMANUALGINNASTATIONTITLE:APPENDIXCPumpandValveTestingProgramDATEPAGE637OF3.2ThefollowingpumpsshallbetestedinaccordancewithArticleIWPofSectionXI:(a)lAComponentCooling(b)1BComponentCooling(c)1ASafetyInjection(d)1BSafetyInjection(e)1CSafetyInjection(f)'AResidualHeatRemoval(g)1BResidualHeatRemoval(h)lAContainmentSpray(i)1BContainmentSpray(j)lAMotorDrivenAuxiliaryFeedwater(k)1BMotorDrivenAuxiliaryFeedwater(1)TurbineDrivenAuxiliaryFeedwater(m)lAServiceWater(n)1BServiceWater(o)1CServiceWater(p)lDServiceWater(q)1CStandbyAuxiliaryFeedwater(r)1DStandbyAuxiliaryFeedwater3.3Withoneexception,testparametersthatshallbemeasuredorobservedduringinservicetestingofeachpumparethoselistedinTableIWP-3100-1ofSectionXIandincludeinletpressure,differentialpressure,flowrate,vibrationamplitude,andproperlubricantlevelorpressure.Theexceptionisforthemeasurementofpumpbearingtemperaturesandthereareseveralreasonswhythis'measurementiseitherundesirableorinconclusive.Specifically,fortheservicewaterpumps,thebearingsaresubmersedinuptofortyfeetofwatermakingbearingtemperaturescloselyapproximatethesurroundingwatertemperatureandmeasurementoftemperaturesalmostimpossible.Fortheauxiliaryandstandbyauxiliaryfeedwaterpumpsthetestconditionsrequirethedischargeofambienttemperaturewaterintothe400degreeFfeedwaterlines.Sinceitcantypicallytakeinexcessofanhourtostabilizebearingtemperaturesthiscausesanunnecessaryextendedtemperaturetrans-ientinthefeedwaterline.Fortheresidualheatremovalandsafetyinjectionpumpsthesystemconfigurationsdonotallowtestingthepumpsatactualpumpserviceconditionsduringplantoperation.Instead,thetestsmustbe I1I QUALITYA'SSURANCEMANUALGINNASTATIONTITLE:APPENDIXCPumpandValveTestingProgramDATEPAGE737Ofperformedatanoff-designflowconditionwhichresultsinhigherbearingtemperaturesthannormal.Thisistobeexpectedsincehigherthannormalthrustloadsareplacedonthepumpbearingsduringthisreducedflowtestcondition.Theextendedtimerequiredforbearingtemperaturestostabilizesubjectsthepumptolengthyperiodsofunnecessarilyhighloads.Thepumpvendorsdonotconsiderthemeasurementofbearingtemperatureinthistypeofoff-designconditiontobeagoodindicationofbearingconditions.Thevendorsrecommendedbearingtemperaturelimitsarebasedonnormaloperatingconditionsanddonotapplytothistypeoftesting.Ingeneral,vibrationisconsideredtobeabetterindicationofbearingconditionsinceasignificantincreaseinbearingtemperaturewillnormallyonlyoccurifbearingfailureisimminent.Finally,testconditionscannotbeeasilycontrolledtoproducetemperaturerepeatabilitysincereadingsaresubjecttoalargenumberofvariablessuchasambientairtemperature,coolingwatertemperature(whereapplicable),locationoftemperatureprobeattach-ment,temperatureofthefluidpumpedandquantityofthefluidpumped.One'orbothresidualheatremovalpumpsmayberequiredtobeoperable,bytheplantTechnicalSpecifications,whentheaveragereactorcoolanttemperatureisbetween350degreesF.and200degreesF.ortheplantisatcoldorrefuelingshutdown.Typically,inthiscase,atleastoneresidualheatremovalpumpwillbeinoperation.TestingwillbeperformedinaccordancewithIWP-3400,which,includesoperatingthepumpatreferenceconditions,ifpracticable,andprovidingalogwhichshowsthattheparametersmonitoredduringnormalplantoperationweremeasured,recordedandanalyzed.Thepracticabilityofduplicatingcoldshutdownreferenceconditionsmaybeimpactedbyrefuelingwaterlevelduringrefuelingandinservicereactorinspectionsaswellasdecayheatremovalrate.3.4Thetestfrequencyforthepumpsshallbeasfollows:a.Componentcoolingwaterpumpsshallbetestedmonthly.

l QUALITYASSURANCEMANUALGINNASTATIONTITLE:APPENDIXCPumpandValveTestingProgramDATEPAGE8pp37b.Safetyinjectionpumpsshallbetestedmonthlyexceptduringcoldorrefuelingshutdowns.Thepumpsshallbetestedpriortostartupifthetimesincethelasttestexceedsonemonth.C~Residualheatremovalpumpsshallbetestedmonthlyexceptduringcoldorrefuelingshutdown.Thepumpsshallbetestedpriortostartupifthetimesincethelasttextexceedsonemonth.Whenthereactorcoolantsystemtemperatureisbetween3504Fand200'Fortheplantisat.coldorrefuelingshutdowntheplantTechnicalSpecificationsmayrequireoneorbothresidualheatremovalpumpstobeoperable.Ifthisisthecase,thentherequiredpumpsshallbetestedmonthly.d.Containmentspraypumpsshallbetestedmonthlyexceptduringcoldorrefuelingshutdown.Thepumpsshallbetestedpriortostartupifthetimesincethelasttestexceedsonemonth.e.Motordrivenauxiliaryfeedwaterpumps,turbinedrivenauxiliaryfeedwaterpump,andthestandbyauxiliaryfeedwaterpumpsshallbetestedmonthlyexceptduringcoldorrefuelingshutdowns.Thepumpsshallbetestedpriortoexceeding5%powerifthetimesincethelasttestexceedsonemonth.Servicewaterpumpsshallbetestedmonthly.Testingofapumpneednotbeperformedifthatpumpisdeclaredinoperablewithoutthetesting.ConsistentwithplantTechnicalSpecifications,specifiedintervalsmaybeextendedby25%toaccommodatenormaltestschedules.

QUALITYASSURANCEMANUALGINNASTATIONTITLE>APPENDIXCPumpandValveTestingProgramDATEPAGE937OFPVT4.04.14.2InserviceValveTestinProramTheInserviceValveTestingProgramwasdevelopedinaccordancewiththerequirementsofArticleIWVofSectionXIoftheCode.Allthosevalvesthatarerequiredtoperformaspecificfunctioneithertoshutdownthereactortothecoldshut-downconditionorinmitigatingtheconsequencesofanaccidentandmaintainthereactorinasafeshutdownconditionareincludedintheprogram.TheInserviceValveTestingProgramRequirementsforCategoryAandBValvesareinTablesPVT4.7and4.8,respectively.CategoryCValvesarebrokendownintotwocategories,CheckValvesandReliefValves,whichareinTablesPVT4.9and4.10,respectively.CategoryDValvesarenotincludedinthistestingprogrambecausetherearenoneincludedinGinnaStationdesign.4.3Someexceptionsandexemptionstothetestingre-quirementsofArticleIWVhavebeentakenbasedonoperationalinterference,placingtheplantinanunsafeconditionandTechnicalSpecificationrequirements.Allexceptionsandexemptions,arelistedonthevalvetablesandexplainedinthereferencednotes,PVT4.12.4~4TheexercisingprogramforCategoryAandBValves,withtheexceptionofcheckvalves,shallrequireacompletestrokingofeachvalveperthevalvetestingtables.Exceptwhereoperationalconstraintsprevailandexceptionshavebeenauthorizedallcheckvalves,includingCategoryCValves,shallbeexercisedtothepositionrequiredtofulfilltheirfunction.Thesefunctionaltestsshallbeverifiedbytheoperationoftherequiredsystem.ValveswhichmalfunctionduringstrokingwillnotbeconsideredinoperableasdefinedbyTechnicalSpecifications,whenthemalfunctiondoesnotpreventthevalvesfromperformingitssafetyfunction.4.5CategoryAandBvalvesoperationshallbetimedeachtimetheyarestrokedutilizingswitchinitiationandthepositionindicators,whichareaccessibleduringplantoperation.Duringeach Ig I~.QUALITYASSURANCEMANUALGINNASTATIONTITLE:APPENDIXCPumpandValveTestingProgramDATEPAGE1037OF4.6refuelingoutageavisualverificationshallbemadetoconfirmdirectcorrespondencebetweenvalveoperatorsandthepositionindicators.Foravalveinasystemdeclaredinoperableornotrequiredtobeoperabletheexercisingtestscheduleneednotbefollowed.Within30dayspriortoreturnofthesystemtooperablestatus,thevalvesshallbeexercisedandthescheduleresumed.4.7Thetestingofvalvesrequiredatcoldshutdownandrefuelingoutageswillnormallytakefour(4)daystocomplete.Whencoldshutdownsareofashorterduration(2-3days),testpersonnelshallattempttotestasmanyvalvesaspossiblewithoutholdingupthestartupoftheunitwithtestingbeginningnolaterthan48hoursaftertheplantreachescoldshutdown(asdefinedinTechnicalSpecification1.2).Forveryshortcoldshutdowns(lessthan48hours),itwouldbeimpossibletomobilizetestpersonneltoimplementthetestingprogramundertherequiredproceduralcontrols,thereforenovalveswouldbetested.Itispossiblethat,duringafour(4)daycoldshut-down,theworkloadontestpersonnelmayprecludetheircompletionofalltherequiredvalvetestspriortostartup.Anytestingnotcompletedatonecoldshutdownduetooutagedurationshallbeperformedduringanysubsequentcoldshutdownsthatmayoccurbeforethenextrefuelingoutagetomeetthespecifiedtestingfrequency.Valvetestingduringcoldshutdownsneednotbemorefrequent.thanonetestperquarterforeachvalveinthetestprogram.4.8Valve4204A304A304BCategoryAValves~TeMVLetdowntoNRHXCV1-ARCPSealInjectionCV1-BRCPSealInjectionNoteTest~FreStrokeC/RLeakRStrokeC/RLeakRStrokeC/RLeakR 0~g\'N")
