The Honorable Kathy Hochul Village Clerk Governor of New York State Pauline DiSanto NYS State Capitol Building Albany, New York 12224

Dear Governor Hochul:

I am writing this letter on behalf of the elected officials of the Village of Croton-on-Hudson Board of Trustees. At the Village Board meeting held on July 24, 2023, a resolution was passed to encourage your immediate attention to the Save the Hudson bill (S6893/A7208), which has passed both houses of the State Legislature and awaits your signature.

Holtec Internationals plan is to begin discharging wastewater from the Indian Point Nuclear Power Plant into the Hudson River as soon as August or September. By not signing this bill as soon as possible, efforts to thwart this wastewater discharge may be too late.

The Village Board is also encouraging the establishment of a moratorium, for up to a period of two years, on future discharges to allow time to research many serious outstanding issues and to develop a responsible waste management process and plan that determines how to best address the tritium-contaminated radioactive wastewater from the spent fuel rod pool.

Sincerely,

Bryan T. Healy Village Manager
