SUMMARY

OF ttEETING REGARDING RELOAD DESIGN METHODS On July 12, 1990, members of Project Directorate IV.2 and the Reactor Systems Branch met with members of Gulf States Utilities Company (GSU) to discuss plans for the development, review, approval and application of reload design methods. A list of participants is included in Enclosure 1. Items discussed r during the meeting included the content of the two reload topical reports GSU plans on submitting, qualification of methods and personnel, computer

. codes and applicability, and the proposed schedule for submittal and review of the reports. The NRC staff agreed with the basic approach GSU is taking and agreed with the proposed content of the topical reports, with a few comments. The schedule was also viewed as feasible, and it was suggested '

that the schedule be formally transmitted to the Chief of the Reactor Systems Branch for budgetary planning purposes. It was agreed that another ineeting to discuss more detailed data and benchmarks would be useful. This will take place in a few months. A copy of the visual aids used during the meeting is ,
