FIVE-YEAR BUSINESS PLAN On July 26, 1988, representatives of GSU met with Region IV personnel in Arlington, Texas, to discuss the Five-Year Business ' Plan.
The attendance list is attached to this Summary.
The meeting was held at the request of GSU.
The Five-Year Plan focused on goals set for each year during the next 5 years to improve safety and reduce operating costs.
The Senior Vice President for the River Bend Nuclear Group emphasized that sufficient funds are available for continued safe operation and that cost savings will not be at the expense of safety.
Major goals discussed were:
(1) increase permanent plant staff and reduce contract employees to achieve a net savings in overall operating costs, (2) improve regulatory performance, and (3) evaluate the possibility of obtaining a license amendment to increase power by 5 percent. During the meeting, plant performance and the status of work in response to NRC Bulletin 88-05 were discussed. Handouts used in discussing these latte" two issues are attached.
