1 APPENDIX B NOTICE OF DEVIATION Sacramento Municipal Utility District Docket 50-312 P.O. Box 15830 License No. DPR-54 Sacramento, California 95813 As a result of the inspection conducted between June 2 and July 11, 1986, and

.in accordance with NRC Enforcement Policy, 10 CFR Part 2, Appendix C, the following deviation was identified: .

The licensee's Updated Safety' Analysis Report section 9.4.2.1 states in part:

" Nuclear service raw water is treated with hypochlorite to prevent algae, slime, and bacterial growth, and with corrosion inhibitor. Each of the ponds has a separate chemical feeding and filtering system for continuous cleaning of the water."'

' Contrary to the above, on various occasions and specifically on June 23, 24, and 25, 1986'the two spray pond filters were found not operating and not providing continuous cleaning.

This is a deviation.

Please submit to this office within 30 days of the date of this notice a written statement and explanation regarding the above item, describing corrective steps taken, the results achieved (or corrective steps that are planned), and the date when corrective actions will be completed.
