FIRE PROTECTION SUPPLEMENTAL SAFETY EVALUATION REPORT - -

PALO VERDE NUCLEAR GENERATING STATION, UNITS 1, 2 & 3 Plant Name: Palo Verde Nuclear Generating Station, Units 1, 2 and 3 Docket Nos.: 50-528/529/530 Licensing Stage: OL Responsible Branch & Project Manager: LB #3; E. Licitra Chemical Engineering Reviewer: D. J. Kubicki Requested Completion Date: ASAP Review Status: Complete In our memorandum of October 15, 1984, in which we transmitted our input to Supplemental Safety Evaluation Report (SSER) No. 7, we stated that our review of the applicant's fire protection program was complete.

However, by letters dated September 26; October 5, 9, 16 (two letters);

I November 13, 21, 28; December 3,5,7,10(twoletters),13(twoletters) and 17, 1984, the applicant provided additional infonnation.

Attached is our evaluation of this information. Because of the extensive nature of the information submitted since our October 15, 1984 memo, we have

completely revised our SSER input. Included in our SSER is an evaluation of
the applicant's spurious actuation analysis, provided by the Auxiliary i Systems Branch via a memorandum dated December 18, 1984.

i Also attached is the proposed license condition for the fire protection program and our SALP input.
