AFFIDAVIT OF WARREN H. rN_E_N My name is Warren H. Owen. I am currently employed by the Duke Power Company as Executive Vice President, Engineering and Construction. I am a member of the Board of Directors and of the Executive Committee. In these capacities I am responsible for, among other things, the fuel loading, testing and power ascension phases for the Catawba nuclear units. Schedules have been developed for these phases which take into account Duke Power Company's experience with such activities at its five operating nuclear reactors.

The current-schedule for Catawba Unit I reflects the following:

i Fuel loading May 25, 1984 thru June 7, 1984 Zero power physics testing June 7, 1984 thru August 30, 1984 (pre-critical) 0-5% power testing _ August 31, 1984 thru September 14, 1984 (plantcritical) 5-200% power testing September 14, 1984 thru February 5, 1985 8404130130 840410 PDR ADOCK 03000434 8 PDR I _
