My name is Warren H. Owen. I am currently employed by the Duke Power l Company as Executive Vice President, Engineering and Construction. I am a member of the Board of Directors and of the Executive Committee. In these capacities I am responsible for, among other things, the schedules for fuel  !

loading, testing, and power ascension phases for the Catawba nuclear units.

Schedules have been developed for these phases which take into account Duke ,

l Power Company's experience with such activities at its five operating nuclear i l '

reactors. -

The current schedule for Catawba Unit I reflects the following:

Fuel Loading June 16, 1984 thru June 25, 1984 Pre-critical Testing June 25, 1984 thru September 1, 1984 i l

0-5% Power Testing September 1, 1984 thru September 14, 1984 (Plant Critical)  !

5-100 Power Testing September 14, 1984 thru January 24, 1985 ,
