2001 Annual Report on Safety Relief Challenges for the Peach Bottom Atomic Power Station Gentlemen:

This represents the 2001 Annual Report on Safety Relief Challenges for the Peach Bottom Atomic Power Station (PBAPS) as required by the TMI Action Plan, Item II. K.3, and by PBAPS Technical Requirement Manual Appendix A Item 5.0 R17. During 2001 there were two unit SCRAMS which resulted in actuations of Main Steam Relief Valves (MSRV) in response to high reactor pressure. During 2001 there were no actuations of the Main Steam Safety Valves in response to high reactor pressure.

Four MSRV actuations occurred during a Unit 2 SCRAM on July 1, 2001. All four MSRV's operated as designed and lifted within their Technical Specification pressure band.

Five MSRV actuations occurred during a Unit 2 SCRAM on October 23, 2001. All five MSRV's operated as designed and lifted within their Technical Specification pressure band.
