Specification LCO 4.1.7 - Core Inlet Orifice Valves, Limiting Condition for Operation a) For a core average outlet temperature _ 9500F, the core inlet orifice valves in Regions 1-19 an.d 21-31 shall be adjusted to the following conditions: The measured individual region outlet temperature for the nine regions whose valves are most fully closed, and any region with control rods inserted more than two

' feet into the core, shall not exceed the core average outlet temperature by more than the limit (Mismatch B) shown in Figure 4.1.7-1. The measured individual region outlet temperature for the remaining regions (Regions 1-19 and 21-31 only) shall not exceed the core average outlet temperature by more than the limit (Mismatch A) shown in Figure 4.1.7-1.

b) For a core average outlet temperature 950,0F, the measured individual region outlet temperature for Regions 1-19 and 21-31 i shall not exceed the core average outlet temperature +4000F, and the conditions of LCO 4.1.9 must be met, c) Uhenever the core inlet orifice valves are set at any positions other than for equal region flows, the core inlet orifice valves in Regions 20 and 32-37 shall be adjusted based upon the orifice valve position of other core regions, referred to as " comparison"

, regions, such that the power / flow ratio in each of Regions 20 and 32-37 is less than or equal to the power / flow ratio in its comparison region (s). Power in each of Regions 20 and 32-37 relative to the power in its comparison region shall be determined from physics calculations. Region flow shall be determined based upon inlet orifice valve position.

Corrective action shall be initiated at the onset of a condition exceeding the limits stated in a) and b). If these limits are exceeded by 1) 1000F' or core, an immediate orderly shutdown shall be initiated;

2) more than 500F# but less than 1000F #, corrective action must-be successful within 2 hours2.314815e-5 days <br />5.555556e-4 hours <br />3.306878e-6 weeks <br />7.61e-7 months <br />' or an orderly shutdown shall be initiated; 1
3) less than 500F#, corrective action must be successful within 24 hours2.777778e-4 days <br />0.00667 hours <br />3.968254e-5 weeks <br />9.132e-6 months <br />
  • or an orderly shutdown shall be initiated.

'These values are taken from the current version of LCO 4.1.7. Values appropriate for the revised LCO 4.1.7 will be determined prior to submittal for license amendment.
