MOTION FOR POSTPONEMENT OF PREHEARING CONFERENCE AND PUBLIC HEARING

1. On January 27, 1968, the Atomic Energy Commissi.on issued a Notice of Hearing on the application by Metropolitan Edison Company (Applicant) for a provisional construction permit for a pressurized water reactor to be located at the Applicant's site on Three Mile Island, an island in the Susquehanna River, in Londonderry Township, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania.

2. The otice of Hearing provided for a pnehearing conference to be held on February 20, 1968, and for a hearing on March 5,1968, in the Middletown Moose Home, Middletown,- Penn!~ '

3 Following issuance of the Notice of Hearing, the

Regulatory Staff of the Atomic Energy Commission advised the Applicant of an issue with respect to which the Regulatory Staff would require further information from_the Applicant before the Staff could complete its safety analysis. In accordance with discussions with the Regulatory Staff, the Applicant will file such information with the AEC on February 23, 1968. Allowing for-o (SL/iF '

, 2-review by the AEC Regulatory Staff, and review and report thereon by the Advisory Committee on Reactor Safeguards at its March 7-8 meeting, prepared testimony by the parties to this proceeding could be filed on a,pproximately March 19, 1968.

4. , Pursuant to Section 2.730 of the Atomic Energy Commission's " Rules of Practice," and in recognition of the foregoing, Applicant moves the Atomic Safety and Licensing Board to postpone the public hearing to a date certain during the week of April 7, 1968, and to postpone the prehearing conference to a date certain either during the week of March 24, 1968, or of March 31, 1968. Applicant understands that the Regulatory Staff will consent to the granting of this Motion.
