Purpose of Todays Meeting

  • A public forum for discussion of Crystal River performance
  • NRC will address Crystal River performance issues identified in the annual assessment letter
  • Crystal River management will be given the opportunity to respond to the information in the letter and inform the NRC of new or existing programs to maintain or improve their performance

Crystal River CY2005 Assessment Results

  • Crystal River performance was within the Licensee Response Column of the NRCs Action Matrix for the first two quarters but transitioned to the Regulatory Response column in the third quarter.
  • All Unit 3 inspection findings were classified as very low safety significance (Green) except for one white inspection finding in the Mitigating System Cornerstone (Fire Protection) originating in the third quarter.
  • All performance indicators were Green

Crystal River Assessment Summary

  • Progress Energy operated Crystal River in a manner that preserved public health and safety
  • All cornerstone objectives were met
