OF THE JANUARY 9, 2008, PUBLIC MEETING TO DISCUSSFENOC FLEET PERFORMANCEOn January 9, 2008, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) held a public meeting at theDavis-Besse Administration Building, Oak Harbor, Ohio. The meeting was between NRC Regions I and III, and FirstEnergy Nuclear Operating Company (FENOC) management todiscuss fleet performance. The meeting notice and licensee presentation can be found in the Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) as ML073550467 and ML080160484, respectively. A list of principal NRC and licensee meeting participants are enclosed.The NRC began the meeting with a brief introduction, then FENOC management discussedindividual plant performance, their fleet-wide approach to sustaining performanceimprovements, and improving site performance at the Beaver Valley, Davis-Besse, and Perry Nuclear Power Plants. At the end of the meeting, members of the public were given the opportunity to ask questions of NRC officials and FENOC representatives.The meeting provided a useful forum to discuss common themes at the FENOC plants with theNRC Regions and the Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation. The meeting concluded with a discussion of plans to continue these meetings involving the NRC regions and program offices and all plants in the FENOC fleet on an annual basis. /RA/Ronald R.
