SUBJECT:

PRESSURE TEMPERATURE LIMITS EVALUATION FOR NINE MILE POINT 1 (TAC NO.: MA1413)

By letter dated June 19,1998, Niagara Mohawk Power Corporation, the licensee, submitted changes related to the pressure-temperature (P-T) limits in the Nine Mile Point Unli 1 Technical Specifications (TS). The licensee revised the P-T limits to provide new limits that are valid to 28 effective full power years (EFPY).

Based on our evaluation of the submittal, we conclude that the proposed P-T limits for heatup and cooldown for non-critical operations; heatup and cooldown for critical operations; and non-critical leakage /hydrotest are acceptable to 28 EFPY, and may be incorporated in the Nine Mile Point Unit 1 TS.

Our evaluation is submitted as Attachment 1 and our SALP input is submitted as Attachment 2.

This completes our efforts for TAC NO. MA1413.
