In reference to your letter of January 24. 1990, please be advised that the Department of Energy's (DOE) budget for FY-1990 and FY 1991 does not include any funds to support the conversion of the NIST Reactor (NBSR) to low enriched 2
uranium.
j Our first priority is to complete the conversion of university based nuclear research reactors subject to the NRC rule with funds available to the Department.
