Cold Neutron Source for the NBS Reactor - Docket #50-184 This is in reference to our letter of September 21, 1984 on the same subject addressed to Mr. Cecil 0. Thomas, wherein we requested NRC review and approval of our proposed cold neutron source experiment. Based on our discussion with the NRC staff on October 30, 1984 and a better understanding of the applicable regulations, the NBSR Safety Evaluation Committee has -
reevaluated the proposed experiment and determined that it satisfies the provisions of 10 CFR 50.59 for changes permitted without prior Commission .
approval. Therefore, NBS no longer has any basis for requesting NRC review .
and respectfully withdraws its request of September 21, 1984.
