TENNESSEE VALLEY AUTHORITY (TVA) -SEQUOYAH NUCLEAR PLANT (SQN) -NPDESPERMIT NO. TN0026450
-AGREED ORDER NO. 89-3036On January 18, 1990, TVA and the Tennessee Department of Health and Environment-the precursor to your department-entered into Agreed Order No. 89-3036.
That order requiredTVA to operate its Sequoya Nuclear Plant in compliance with NPDES permit TN0026450 andthe Clean Water Act; pay the State of Tennessee a monetary amount of $2,091.97; and prepareand submit a plan that details proposed systems and procedures for protecting fish and aquaticlife. Soon after the effective date of the order, TVA paid the monetary amount and it developed and implemented an operating procedure for providing a fish refuge in the plant's intakeembayment.
In addition, the plant continues to operate in compliance with its NPDES permitand applicable provisions of the Clean Water Act.Hence, TVA respectfully requests that the Department of Environment and Conservation closeOrder No. 89-3036 and send us a written notification to that effect.
