Dy letter dated February 14,1997, Southern Nuclear Ope:ating Company (SNC) proposed to amend the Facility Operating Licenses and Technical Specifications for Joseph M. Farley Nuclear Plant (FNP) Unit I and Unit 2 to allow operation at an increased reactor core power level of 2775 megawatts thermal (Mwt). NRC letters dated July 1,1997 and August 21,1997 requested SNC provide additional infonnation, and SNC responded by letters dated August 5,1997 and September 22,1997, respectively. On October 20,1997, SNC received a new Staff request (NRC letter dated October 14,1997) for additional infonnation. This SNC letter provides the requested information.

Attachment I provides the SNC Responses to NRC Question Nos.1 - 11 and 13 - 33, and 1 provides the SNC Response to NRC Question No.12, Attachment 111 includes a copy of corrected page 4-12 of WCAP-14723,"Farley Nuclear Plant Units I and 2 Power Uprate Project NSSS Licensing Report," which is a non-proprietary Westinghouse report.

infomiation proprietary to Westinghouse Electric Corporation, it is supported by an affidavit signed by Westinghouse, the owner of the information. The affidavit sets forth the basis on which the information may be withheld from public disclosure by the Commission and specifically

- addresses the considerations listed in paragraph (b)(4) of 10 CFR Section 2.790 of the Commission's regulations. Correspondence with respect to the copyright or proprietary aspects of the items listed above or the supporting Westinghouse affidavit should reference CAW-97-1188 and be addressed to Nicholas J.
