MEETING WITH REPRESENTATIVES OF SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA EDISONFOR SAN ONOFRE NUCLEAR GENERATING STATIONOn May 3, 2006, a Category I public meeting was held between the U.S. Nuclear RegulatoryCommission (NRC) and representatives of Southern California Edison at NRC Headquarters,One White Flint North, 11555, Rockville Pike, Rockville, Maryland. The purpose of the meetingwas to discuss SONGS' Safety Conscious Work Environment (SCWE) and Nuclear Safety Culture (NSC). A list of attendees is provided as Enclosure 1. The presentation addressed the following issues:

1.Establishing and Maintaining the NSC and SCWE at SONGS*The responsibility of management, policies, and training*Available alternative, staff strength, feedback, and effectiveness of the program2. Assessing the Synergy TM Survey Results *Details on the scope and methodology employed by the contractor

  • Assessment of metrics
  • Structure of results, including comparison to other customers
  • Summary of results
  • Areas of relative strength and weakness
  • Management's assessment of the results 3. Assessing the Trends in NSCs and NRC Allegations *Concerns, allegations, and trends
