J REFUELING INFORMATION.
The following refueling infor=ation is included in the Monthly Report as .
requested in a letter to Mr. G. C. Andognini dated January 18, 19 78:
For your convenicnce, the information supplied has been enunerated so that each number corresponds to equivalent notation utilized in the request.
- 1. The name of this facility is Pilgrim Nuclear Power Station, Dockat Number 50-29 3,
- 2. Scheduled dat.e for next Refueling Shutdown: Sep tenber, 1981
, 3. Scheduled date for restart following refueling:
4.
- 5. Due to their similarity, requests 4, 5, & 6 are responded to collectively:
- 6. The fuel, which had been loaded during the 1980 scheduled refueling outage, is of the new P8x8R design, consisting of approxi:aately 64 P8DR3282 assemblies and 120 P80R3265 assemblies.
- 7. (a) There are 580 fuel assemblies in the core.
(b) There are 764 fuel assemblies in the spent fuel pool.
- 8. (a) The station is presently licensed to store 2320 spent fuel assemblies.
The actual spent fuel storage capacity'is 1770 fuel assemblies at present.
(b) The planned spent fuel storage capacity is 2320 fuel assemblies.
- 9. With present spent fuel in storage, the spent fuel pool now has the f capacity to acco:nnodate an additional 1006 fuel assemblies.

SUMMARY
OF OPERATIONS FOR FE3*tCARY,1981 The Unit operated at approxi ately 73% reactor power (67% Electrical) fro:
February 1 to February 2a. On February 2?., de reac:or power was reduced :o 20 :o facili: ate an entr/ in:o :he dr/well :o decernine cause for excessive uniden:ified leakage. ~'c.e leakage was identified to be packing on de ' A' reac:or recirculation pu::p discharge valve. The valve was backsea:ed, leakage reduced to acceptable le.vals and power returned :o 75%.
On ?chruarf 25 the uni: was reduced to 50% pcuer to backwash de =ain condenser because 1:1 gh winds and heavy seas had broken up large arioun:s of seaweed which clogged the ::aveling screens. Power was re:urned to 75% af:e the backwash and naintained a: tha: level until 0145 on Fe'eruarf 23 when the uni: was shu:
down to repair feedwater heater leaks.
The uni: was li=1:ed to 75% during de ::enth of February because of lini.ations en the turbine with the "3" Feedwa:er Eea:e train isola:ed.
