SUMMARY

OF THE FEBRUARY 29, 2012, AND MARCH 21, 2012, PUBLIC MEETINGS REGARDING PALISADES NUCLEAR PLANT On February 29, 2012, the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) held a Public Meeting at the Beach Haven Event Center in South Haven, Michigan. The meeting was held with members of the public to discuss recent performance at the Palisades Nuclear Plant.

Discussions were held between members of the public and NRC staff regarding the events that led to the issuance of two White findings and a Yellow finding during the fourth quarter of 2011.

The NRC discussed actions performed and scheduled to address Palisades performance in Column 3 of the Reactor Oversight Process (ROP) Action Matrix. Enclosure 1 is a list of attendees for the meeting, and a copy of the slides used by the NRC staff during the meeting are located in ADAMS (ML12058A491).

On March 21, 2012, the NRC held a public meeting to discuss the 2011 annual assessment results for Palisades Nuclear Plant. The meeting was held at the Beach Haven Event Center in South Haven, Michigan. Enclosure 2 is a list of attendees for the meeting, and copies of the slides used by licensee and the NRC staff during the meeting are located in ADAMS (ML12080A018 and ML12074A069).

The meeting was started with the NRC providing an overview of the ROP and the results of the 2011 annual assessment for Palisades Nuclear Plant. The NRC's presentation was followed by a presentation provided by the Palisades Nuclear Plant staff giving an overview of the current and proposed actions to improve performance in 2012, including a description of the major issues. In addition, Palisades staff discussed the actions that have been accomplished, or are planning to be accomplished, to mitigate the three new substantive cross-cutting issues that were identified by the NRC during the 2011 annual assessment.

Entergy Nuclear Operations, Inc. After the business part of the meeting ended, the NRC listened to comments and answered questions from the public.
