Purpose:
The focus of the meeting is to have a meaningful dialogue between the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) and the public. The meeting will have three major portions:
Open House The Open House is an opportunity for members of the public to talk informally with NRC professionals knowledgeable of issues specific to Palisades, including recent licensing and enforcement actions as well as radiation protection and monitoring.
Palisades End-of-Cycle Performance Discussion The End-of-Cycle performance discussion will be a presentation by a panel of NRC staff, including the site Resident Inspectors and NRC management, to discuss the 2015 annual assessment results for the Palisades Nuclear Plant.
Notice of Significant Licensee Meeting The discussion will also include the NRCs regulatory actions over the last year.
Break During the break, those in attendance and on the phone who wish to ask questions or make comments during the Town Hall portion of the meeting will be invited to sign up. Audience members in the room who prefer not to speak will also have the opportunity to submit written questions or comments to the facilitator who will read the questions or comments out loud to the NRC staff.
Town Hall During the Town Hall portion of the meeting, the facilitator will alternate between questions from members of the audience and from those on the phone. To ensure NRC is able to address as many people as possible, speakers may be asked to limit the time planned for their comments and questions to roughly 3 minutes.
