I.INTRODUCTIONANDSUNMARYAperiodicType,"A"IntegratedLeakageRateTest(ILRT)wassuccessfullyconductedontheprimarycontainmentstructureoftheFloridaPower5LightCompanySt.LuciePlantUnitNo.1PressurizedWaterReactor.ThistestwasperformedatfullpressureinaccordancewiththefacilityTechnicalSpecifications.ThisILRTtestwasperformedusingthe"AbsoluteNethod"oftestinginaccordancewiththeCodeofFederalRegulations,Title18,Part58AppendixJ,'PrimaryReactorContainment.LeakageTestingforWater-CooledPowerReactors,"inaccordancewithANSIN45.4-1972,AmericanNationalStandard,"LeakageRateTestingofContainmentStructuresforNuclearReactors,"andthemethodologyandcalculationalrequirementsofTopicalReportBN-TOP-1,Revision1,"TestingCriteriaforIntegratedLeakageRateTestingofPrimaryContainmentStructuresforNuclearPowerPlants."TheILRTwasperformedatapressureinexcessofthecalculatedpeakcontainmentinternalpressurerelatedtothedesignbasisaccidentasspecifiedintheFinalSafetyAnalysisReport(FSAR)andtheTechnicalSpecifications.ThisreportdescribesandpresentstheresultsoftheperiodicType"A"leakageratetesting,includingthesupplementaltestmethodutilizedforverification.Inaddition,FloridaPower5LightCompanyperformstypes"B"and"C"testinginaccordancewiththerequirementsof18CFR58,AppendixJ,andtheTechnicalSpecifications.Theresultsoftypes"B"and"C"testingperformedsincethelastILRTareprovidedinthisreport~Theresultingreported"as-found"Type"A"containmentleakageat48~2pslgis8.195percentofthecontainedmassper'ay.Thisvalueincludesthedifferencebetweentheas-foundandas-left,minimumpathwayTypes"B"and"C"localleakagemeasurementsasrequiredbytheNRCI&EInformationNotice85-71.Theresultingreported"as-left"Type"A"containmentleakageat48.2psigis8.181percentofthecontainedmassperday.TheacceptancecriteriaforthistestascontainedinthefacilityTechnicalSpecificationsisthatleakagecannotexceed8.375percentofthecontainedV III4II airmassperdayat39.6psigforeitherthe"as-found"or"as-left"case.II.TESTDISCUSSIONA.DescritionoftheContainmentThecontainmentvesselcompletelyenclosestheentirereactorandreactorcoolantsystemtoensurenoleakageofradioactivematerialstotheenvironmentintheunlikelyeventofalossofcoolantaccident.Thecontainmentsystemdesignincorporatesafree-standingcontainmentvesselsurroundedbyalow-leakageconcreteshieldbuilding.Afour-footannularspaceisprovidedbetweentheouterwallofthecontainmentvesselandtheinnerwalloftheshieldbuildingtoallowfiltrationofcontainmentvesselleakageduringaccidentconditionstominimizeoff-sitedoses~Thefree-standingcontainmentvesselisatwo-inchthickrightcircularcylinderwithaone-inchthickhemisphericaldomeandtwo-inchthickellip-soidalbottom.Theoveral1vesseldimensionsare148-footdiameterby232-foothigh.Thevesselwallthicknessisincreasedtoaminimumoffourinchesadjacenttoallpenetrationsandopenings.ThevesselisfabricatedofASIDE-SA5i6Grade7$fullykilledpressurevesselqualitysteelplate.Thenetfreevolumeofthecontainmentvesselis2.5x1$cubicfeet.6Thecontainmentvesselstructureincludesonepersonnelairlock,oneemergencyescapelock,onefueltransfertube,oneequipmentmaintenancehatch'ndoneseal-weldedconstructionhatch.Allprocesspipingandelectricalpenetrationsareweldeddirectlytothecontainmentvesselnozzleswiththeexceptionofthemainsteam,mainfeedwater,andfueltransfertubepenetrations.ThesepenetrationsareprovidedwithtestableIImultipleplyexpansionbe}lowstoallowforthermalgrowthorbuildingdifferentialmotion.
IIIIII ThecontainmentvesselisdesignedandconstructedinaccordancewiththerequirementsforClassNCvesselscontainedinSectionIIIoftheASNECode(1971Edition).Thecontainmentvesseliscodestampedforadesigninternalcontainmentpressureof44psigatatemperatureof264F.Thecontainmentvesselandal1penetrationsaredesignedtolimitleakagetolessthan8.5percentbyweightofthecontainedairperdayattheabovedesignconditions.ThecalculatedpeakaccidentpressureforthedesignbasisaccidentfortheSt.LuciePlantNo.1is39.6psig,inaccordancewithTechnicalSpecification3.6.1.2.a.1.B.DescritionofILRTInstrumentationThecontainmentsystemwasequippedwithinstrumentationtopermitleakageratedeterminationbythe"absolutemethod."Utilizingthismethod,theactualmassofdryairwithinthecontainmentiscalculated.Theleakageratebecomesthetimerateofchangeofthisvalue.Themassofair(9)iscalculatedaccordingtothePerfectGasLawasfollows:0=(P-Pv)VRTwhere:PPvVRTContainmentTotalAbsolutePressureContainmentWaterVaporPressure(Average)ContainmentNetFreeVolumeGasConstantContainmentAbsoluteTemperature(Average)Theprimarymeasurementvariablesrequiredarecontainmentabsolutepressure,containmentrelativehumidity,andcontainmenttemperatureasafunctionoftime.Duringthesupplementaryverificationtest,containmentbleed-offflowisalsorecorded.Averagecontainmentabsolutetemperatureisdeterminedbymeasuringdiscretelocaltemperaturesthroughoutthecontainmentandapplyingamassandvolumeweightedaveragingtechnique.Thevolumefractionforeachsensorisdeterminedbaseduponsolidgeometricalcalculations:

betweenthemonitorsandthecontainmentissho~ninFigure3.Eithermonitorcouldbeusedastheprimarypressuresensorforleakageratecalculationswiththeremainingsensorconsideredasabackup.Thecalibratedaccuracyofthemonitoris+8.815percentofreading.Thesensitivity,repeatability,andresolutionofthemonitoris+$.881psi.BinaryCodedDecimal<BCD)outputfrombothmonitorswasconnectedtotheFluke2288Bdatalogger.4.FlowInstrumentationAvariableareafloat-typerotameterwasusedtosuperimposeleakageduringthesupplementaryCLRT.ThepipingconnectionbetweentherotameterandthecontainmentisshowninFigure3.Theaccuracy,repeatability,andsensitivityfortherotameterinunitsofSCFNandconvertedtoequivalentleakagevaluesisgivenbelow:PeakPressureRotameter,AccuracyRepeatabilitySensitivitySCFN+8.28+8.85'+8.85Equiva1entL~a~acae+8.8831%/day+8.8888%/day+8.8888//day5.InstrumentSelectionGuide(ISG)CalculationTheInstrumentSelectionGuideisa'ethodofcompilingtheinstrumen-tationsensitivityandresolutionforeach.processmeasurementvariableusedduringtheILRTandevaluatingthetotalinstrumentationsystem'sabilitytodetectleakageratesintherangerequired.TheISGformulaisdescribedinAmericanNationalStandardANSI/ANS56.8-1987.AlthoughtheISGisaveryconservativemeasureofsensitivity,thegeneralindustrypracticeforthistesthasbeentorequiresensitivityatleastfourtimesbetterthanthecontainmentallowableleakageorISG<$.25La.ThecalculatedISGfortheinstrumentationusedforthistestwas8~8883percentper'day,foran8hourtest.Theallowablevalueforthistestis8.25Laor$.125percentperday,foran8hourtest.TheISGcalculationmetallrecommendedcriteriaanddemonstratedtheabilityoftheILRTinstrumentationsystemtomeasurecontainmentleakagewithasensitivityt IIIIII exceedingthatrequiredbytheappropriateindustrystandards.C.ContainmentPressurizationEuimentTheequipmentusedtopressurizethecontainment.isshowninFigure4~Thethirteenoil-freeindustrialdiesel-drivenaircompressorshadatotalnominalcapacityofl2,988SCFM.Thecompressedairwasthenroutedtowater-cooledafter-coolers,moistureseparators,andrefrigerantairdryers.Thisequipmentassuredthatcleananddryairwasusedtopressurizethecontainment.D.DescritionoftheComuterProramTheEbascoILRTcomputerprogramisaninteractiveprogramwrittenspecificallyforfast,easyutilizationduringallphasesoftheILRTandCLRT.Theprogramiswritteninahigh-level,compiled,structuredlanguageandisoperatedonaportableNS-DOSpersonalcomputer.TheprogramhasbeenverifiedandmeetsallrequirementsoftheEbascoandFloridaPower&LightQualityAssurancePrograms.Asnecessary,dataentryandmodificationsarereadilyaccomplishedbythedataacquisitionteam.Inadditiontoextensivedataverificationroutines,theprogramcalculates,ondemand,totaltimeandmasspointleakratesaswel1asthe95percentUpperConfidenceLevelfortheseleakageratecalculations.CalculationsandmethodologyoftheprogramarederivedfromAmericanNationalStandardANSIN45.4-1972andTopicalReport,BN-TOP-1,Revisionl.Inputdatamaybedeletedforagiveninstrumentinthecaseofasensormalfunction.Thedeletionofagiveninstrumentisperformedonallsamplesinthedatabase.Weighingfactors,ifapplicable,arethenrecalculatedfortheremaininginstrumentsensorsofthattype(seesectionIII.A).Dataevaluationsareenhancedbytheflexibledisplayofeithersensorvariablesorvariouscomputedvaluesintabularorgraphicalformonthecomputerscreenorprinter.Dataarerecordedonmagneticmediatoprevent IIIII lossduringthetesting.Al1dataarestoredonthecomputersysteminuse,withretrievalcapabilitytoanydesireddatabasethroughoutthetesting.Ancillaryportionsoftheprogramassisttheuserindeterminingtemperaturestabilization,determiningtheILRTterminationcriteria,performingISGcalculations,performinginsituinstrumentloopperformancecalculationsanddeterminingacceptablesuperimposedCLRTleakageveri-fication.Temperature,pressureandhumiditydataaretransmittedfromtheILRTinstrumentationsystemtothecomputerviaanRS-252linkat28minuteintervals(seeFigure5).Computerverificationandcheckingroutinessupplementdataverificationbythedataacquisitionteam.Modificationscanbepromptlymadeiferrorsaredet'ected.E.DescritionoftheTestinSeuencePreparationstopressurizethecontainmentfortheconductionoftheILRTincludedinternalandexternalinspectionsofthecontainment.structure;installationandcheckoutoftheILRTinstrumentation;Types"B"and"C"LocalLeakageRateTests;alignmentofvalvesandbreakersfortestconditions;andtheinstallationandcheckoutofthetemporarypressurizationfacilities.ThesepreparationswerecompletedonApril5,1998.Al1ILRTinstrumentationwasdeclaredoperablewithperformancewithinmanufacturers'o)erances.PressuresensorNo.1wasselectedtobetheprimarypressureinstrument,asithadexhibitedbetterrepeatabilityandstabilityduringtheinsitutesting.ThreepenetrationswererequiredtobeinserviceduringtheILRTandwerenotlineduptosimulateaccidentconditions;P-52D(ILRTPressureSensingLine),P-52E(ILRTControlledBleed-offLine),andP-54(ILRTPres-III surizationLine).ThethreeILRTpenetrationsareusedtoconductthetest.Theminimumpathwayleakageforthosepenetrations,determinedduringType"C"localtesting,isaddedtothemeasuredILRTleakagetoaccountforthesepenetrationsbeinginserviceduringthetest.Pressurizationofthecontainmentstartedat8314hoursonApril5,1998.Figure6pictoriallydepictsthesequenceoftesting.Thepressurizationratewasmaintainedat4psi/hr.Earlyinthepressurizationmode,theAssistantNuclearPlantSupervisor(ANPS)requestedthat,thetestbestoppedduetoPDIS-25-1B(ContainmentdPsensor)failinglow,whichcausedFCV-25-8(ContainmentVacuumBreaker)toopenonhighvacuum.ThefusesforFCV-25-8werepulled,shuttingthevalve,andpressurizationwasrestarted.SubsequenttocompletionoftheILRTthePDISwasrepaired.Thetargetpressureof55.165psiawasachievedat138Shourson4/5/89.Thistargetpressurewas8.865psiabovetheminimumtestpressuretoaccountfortheexpectedpressuredecreaseduetotemperaturestabilizationandtoallowforsomeleakagemarginduringthetestsequence.Dataacquisitionandanalysisduringthetemperaturestabilizationphasebeganat1318hoursat28minuteintervals.Thecontainmenttemperaturestabilizationcriteriawasmetat1718hoursonApril5,1998,afteracquisitionoffourhoursofdata.Duringthisperiod,thetemperatureandpressuredecreasesfollowedpredictabletrends,andthetrendofvaporpressurewasstable.SixhoursintotheILRTholdtime,leakagehadincreasedtogreaterthan.375//dayinmagnitude.Twovalveswerefoundtobeleaking)MV872AMV-87-2B(ContainmentSumpValves).Bothofthesevalvesareinserviceandcoveredwithwaterduringthedesignbasisaccident.TheyareboundaryvalvesfortheILRT(seesect.III.C).Thesevalveswerecheckedshut,MV-87-2Areceived'woturnsandMV-87-2Breceivedthreeturns.TheILRTholdtimewasrestartedat2318.

I.INTRODUCTIONANDSUNMARYAperiodicType,"A"IntegratedLeakageRateTest(ILRT)wassuccessfullyconductedontheprimarycontainmentstructureoftheFloridaPower5LightCompanySt.LuciePlantUnitNo.1PressurizedWaterReactor.ThistestwasperformedatfullpressureinaccordancewiththefacilityTechnicalSpecifications.ThisILRTtestwasperformedusingthe"AbsoluteNethod"oftestinginaccordancewiththeCodeofFederalRegulations,Title18,Part58AppendixJ,'PrimaryReactorContainment.LeakageTestingforWater-CooledPowerReactors,"inaccordancewithANSIN45.4-1972,AmericanNationalStandard,"LeakageRateTestingofContainmentStructuresforNuclearReactors,"andthemethodologyandcalculationalrequirementsofTopicalReportBN-TOP-1,Revision1,"TestingCriteriaforIntegratedLeakageRateTestingofPrimaryContainmentStructuresforNuclearPowerPlants."TheILRTwasperformedatapressureinexcessofthecalculatedpeakcontainmentinternalpressurerelatedtothedesignbasisaccidentasspecifiedintheFinalSafetyAnalysisReport(FSAR)andtheTechnicalSpecifications.ThisreportdescribesandpresentstheresultsoftheperiodicType"A"leakageratetesting,includingthesupplementaltestmethodutilizedforverification.Inaddition,FloridaPower5LightCompanyperformstypes"B"and"C"testinginaccordancewiththerequirementsof18CFR58,AppendixJ,andtheTechnicalSpecifications.Theresultsoftypes"B"and"C"testingperformedsincethelastILRTareprovidedinthisreport~Theresultingreported"as-found"Type"A"containmentleakageat48~2pslgis8.195percentofthecontainedmassper'ay.Thisvalueincludesthedifferencebetweentheas-foundandas-left,minimumpathwayTypes"B"and"C"localleakagemeasurementsasrequiredbytheNRCI&EInformationNotice85-71.Theresultingreported"as-left"Type"A"containmentleakageat48.2psigis8.181percentofthecontainedmassperday.TheacceptancecriteriaforthistestascontainedinthefacilityTechnicalSpecificationsisthatleakagecannotexceed8.375percentofthecontainedV III4II airmassperdayat39.6psigforeitherthe"as-found"or"as-left"case.II.TESTDISCUSSIONA.DescritionoftheContainmentThecontainmentvesselcompletelyenclosestheentirereactorandreactorcoolantsystemtoensurenoleakageofradioactivematerialstotheenvironmentintheunlikelyeventofalossofcoolantaccident.Thecontainmentsystemdesignincorporatesafree-standingcontainmentvesselsurroundedbyalow-leakageconcreteshieldbuilding.Afour-footannularspaceisprovidedbetweentheouterwallofthecontainmentvesselandtheinnerwalloftheshieldbuildingtoallowfiltrationofcontainmentvesselleakageduringaccidentconditionstominimizeoff-sitedoses~Thefree-standingcontainmentvesselisatwo-inchthickrightcircularcylinderwithaone-inchthickhemisphericaldomeandtwo-inchthickellip-soidalbottom.Theoveral1vesseldimensionsare148-footdiameterby232-foothigh.Thevesselwallthicknessisincreasedtoaminimumoffourinchesadjacenttoallpenetrationsandopenings.ThevesselisfabricatedofASIDE-SA5i6Grade7$fullykilledpressurevesselqualitysteelplate.Thenetfreevolumeofthecontainmentvesselis2.5x1$cubicfeet.6Thecontainmentvesselstructureincludesonepersonnelairlock,oneemergencyescapelock,onefueltransfertube,oneequipmentmaintenancehatch'ndoneseal-weldedconstructionhatch.Allprocesspipingandelectricalpenetrationsareweldeddirectlytothecontainmentvesselnozzleswiththeexceptionofthemainsteam,mainfeedwater,andfueltransfertubepenetrations.ThesepenetrationsareprovidedwithtestableIImultipleplyexpansionbe}lowstoallowforthermalgrowthorbuildingdifferentialmotion.

IIIIII ThecontainmentvesselisdesignedandconstructedinaccordancewiththerequirementsforClassNCvesselscontainedinSectionIIIoftheASNECode(1971Edition).Thecontainmentvesseliscodestampedforadesigninternalcontainmentpressureof44psigatatemperatureof264F.Thecontainmentvesselandal1penetrationsaredesignedtolimitleakagetolessthan8.5percentbyweightofthecontainedairperdayattheabovedesignconditions.ThecalculatedpeakaccidentpressureforthedesignbasisaccidentfortheSt.LuciePlantNo.1is39.6psig,inaccordancewithTechnicalSpecification3.6.1.2.a.1.B.DescritionofILRTInstrumentationThecontainmentsystemwasequippedwithinstrumentationtopermitleakageratedeterminationbythe"absolutemethod."Utilizingthismethod,theactualmassofdryairwithinthecontainmentiscalculated.Theleakageratebecomesthetimerateofchangeofthisvalue.Themassofair(9)iscalculatedaccordingtothePerfectGasLawasfollows:0=(P-Pv)VRTwhere:PPvVRTContainmentTotalAbsolutePressureContainmentWaterVaporPressure(Average)ContainmentNetFreeVolumeGasConstantContainmentAbsoluteTemperature(Average)Theprimarymeasurementvariablesrequiredarecontainmentabsolutepressure,containmentrelativehumidity,andcontainmenttemperatureasafunctionoftime.Duringthesupplementaryverificationtest,containmentbleed-offflowisalsorecorded.Averagecontainmentabsolutetemperatureisdeterminedbymeasuringdiscretelocaltemperaturesthroughoutthecontainmentandapplyingamassandvolumeweightedaveragingtechnique.Thevolumefractionforeachsensorisdeterminedbaseduponsolidgeometricalcalculations:

temperature.ThelocationofthetemperaturedetectorsinthecontainmentisdepictedinFigure1.EachRTDsensorwassuppliedwithacalibratedresistanceversustemperaturecurveaccurateto+8.5F.ThesensitivityandrepeatabilityofeachRTDsensorislessthan+8.8126F.CThesignalconditioningcircuitandreadoutfortheRTDsensorswasaFluke2288Bdataloggero'peratinginaconstant,currentmode.TheoperatingparametersfortheRTDconstantcurrentcardareaccurateto+8.16Fandhavearesolutionof+8.81F.EachRTDwasin-situcalibrationcheckedafterinstallationtoverifycorrectoperation.ThedataloggeroperatingasatotalloopwithanRTDinthecircuithasarepeatabilityof+8~81F'ndaresolutionof+881oF2.Humidit'InstrumentationTenResistanceHumidityDetectors(RHDs>werelocatedthroughouttheIcontainmenttoallowmeasurementoftheweightedaveragecontainmentvaporpressure.ThelocationoftheRHDsinthecontainmentisdepictedinFigure2.ThecalibratedaccuracyoftheRHDsis+2.5percentRH,therepeatabilityoftheRHDsis+8.1percentRH,andthesensitivityoftheRHDsis+8.81percentRH.Thereadoutdev'iceusedfortheRHDswasaFluke2288Bdataloggeroperatinginavoltagemeasurementmode.EachRHDwasinsitucalibrationcheckedafterinstallationtoverifycorrectoperation.Therepeatabilityoftheloopis+8.1percentRHwhiletheresolutionofthedeviceis+8.81percentRH.3.PressureInstrumentationTwoVolumetricprecisionpressuremonitorswereusedtodeterminecontainmentabsolutepressure.Thearrangementoftubingconnections,5 betweenthemonitorsandthecontainmentissho~ninFigure3.Eithermonitorcouldbeusedastheprimarypressuresensorforleakageratecalculationswiththeremainingsensorconsideredasabackup.Thecalibratedaccuracyofthemonitoris+8.815percentofreading.Thesensitivity,repeatability,andresolutionofthemonitoris+$.881psi.BinaryCodedDecimal<BCD)outputfrombothmonitorswasconnectedtotheFluke2288Bdatalogger.4.FlowInstrumentationAvariableareafloat-typerotameterwasusedtosuperimposeleakageduringthesupplementaryCLRT.ThepipingconnectionbetweentherotameterandthecontainmentisshowninFigure3.Theaccuracy,repeatability,andsensitivityfortherotameterinunitsofSCFNandconvertedtoequivalentleakagevaluesisgivenbelow:PeakPressureRotameter,AccuracyRepeatabilitySensitivitySCFN+8.28+8.85'+8.85Equiva1entL~a~acae+8.8831%/day+8.8888%/day+8.8888//day5.InstrumentSelectionGuide(ISG)CalculationTheInstrumentSelectionGuideisa'ethodofcompilingtheinstrumen-tationsensitivityandresolutionforeach.processmeasurementvariableusedduringtheILRTandevaluatingthetotalinstrumentationsystem'sabilitytodetectleakageratesintherangerequired.TheISGformulaisdescribedinAmericanNationalStandardANSI/ANS56.8-1987.AlthoughtheISGisaveryconservativemeasureofsensitivity,thegeneralindustrypracticeforthistesthasbeentorequiresensitivityatleastfourtimesbetterthanthecontainmentallowableleakageorISG<$.25La.ThecalculatedISGfortheinstrumentationusedforthistestwas8~8883percentper'day,foran8hourtest.Theallowablevalueforthistestis8.25Laor$.125percentperday,foran8hourtest.TheISGcalculationmetallrecommendedcriteriaanddemonstratedtheabilityoftheILRTinstrumentationsystemtomeasurecontainmentleakagewithasensitivityt IIIIII exceedingthatrequiredbytheappropriateindustrystandards.C.ContainmentPressurizationEuimentTheequipmentusedtopressurizethecontainment.isshowninFigure4~Thethirteenoil-freeindustrialdiesel-drivenaircompressorshadatotalnominalcapacityofl2,988SCFM.Thecompressedairwasthenroutedtowater-cooledafter-coolers,moistureseparators,andrefrigerantairdryers.Thisequipmentassuredthatcleananddryairwasusedtopressurizethecontainment.D.DescritionoftheComuterProramTheEbascoILRTcomputerprogramisaninteractiveprogramwrittenspecificallyforfast,easyutilizationduringallphasesoftheILRTandCLRT.Theprogramiswritteninahigh-level,compiled,structuredlanguageandisoperatedonaportableNS-DOSpersonalcomputer.TheprogramhasbeenverifiedandmeetsallrequirementsoftheEbascoandFloridaPower&LightQualityAssurancePrograms.Asnecessary,dataentryandmodificationsarereadilyaccomplishedbythedataacquisitionteam.Inadditiontoextensivedataverificationroutines,theprogramcalculates,ondemand,totaltimeandmasspointleakratesaswel1asthe95percentUpperConfidenceLevelfortheseleakageratecalculations.CalculationsandmethodologyoftheprogramarederivedfromAmericanNationalStandardANSIN45.4-1972andTopicalReport,BN-TOP-1,Revisionl.Inputdatamaybedeletedforagiveninstrumentinthecaseofasensormalfunction.Thedeletionofagiveninstrumentisperformedonallsamplesinthedatabase.Weighingfactors,ifapplicable,arethenrecalculatedfortheremaininginstrumentsensorsofthattype(seesectionIII.A).Dataevaluationsareenhancedbytheflexibledisplayofeithersensorvariablesorvariouscomputedvaluesintabularorgraphicalformonthecomputerscreenorprinter.Dataarerecordedonmagneticmediatoprevent surizationLine).ThethreeILRTpenetrationsareusedtoconductthetest.Theminimumpathwayleakageforthosepenetrations,determinedduringType"C"localtesting,isaddedtothemeasuredILRTleakagetoaccountforthesepenetrationsbeinginserviceduringthetest.Pressurizationofthecontainmentstartedat8314hoursonApril5,1998.Figure6pictoriallydepictsthesequenceoftesting.Thepressurizationratewasmaintainedat4psi/hr.Earlyinthepressurizationmode,theAssistantNuclearPlantSupervisor(ANPS)requestedthat,thetestbestoppedduetoPDIS-25-1B(ContainmentdPsensor)failinglow,whichcausedFCV-25-8(ContainmentVacuumBreaker)toopenonhighvacuum.ThefusesforFCV-25-8werepulled,shuttingthevalve,andpressurizationwasrestarted.SubsequenttocompletionoftheILRTthePDISwasrepaired.Thetargetpressureof55.165psiawasachievedat138Shourson4/5/89.Thistargetpressurewas8.865psiabovetheminimumtestpressuretoaccountfortheexpectedpressuredecreaseduetotemperaturestabilizationandtoallowforsomeleakagemarginduringthetestsequence.Dataacquisitionandanalysisduringthetemperaturestabilizationphasebeganat1318hoursat28minuteintervals.Thecontainmenttemperaturestabilizationcriteriawasmetat1718hoursonApril5,1998,afteracquisitionoffourhoursofdata.Duringthisperiod,thetemperatureandpressuredecreasesfollowedpredictabletrends,andthetrendofvaporpressurewasstable.SixhoursintotheILRTholdtime,leakagehadincreasedtogreaterthan.375//dayinmagnitude.Twovalveswerefoundtobeleaking)MV872AMV-87-2B(ContainmentSumpValves).Bothofthesevalvesareinserviceandcoveredwithwaterduringthedesignbasisaccident.TheyareboundaryvalvesfortheILRT(seesect.III.C).Thesevalveswerecheckedshut,MV-87-2Areceived'woturnsandMV-87-2Breceivedthreeturns.TheILRTholdtimewasrestartedat2318.
