This information was transmitted in order to clarify the licensee's relief requests 14R-02 and 14R-1 O dated April 13, 2016, tor Limerick Generating Station (LGS), Units 1 and 2. The draft RAI was sent to Exelon to ensure that the questions are understandable, the regulatory basis for the questions is clear, and to determine if the information was previously docketed. The licensee has agreed to provide a response to the RAls by July 13, 2016, This memorandum and the attachment do not convey or represent an NRC staff position regarding the licensee's request. Draft RAI DRAFT REQUEST FOR ADDITIONAL INFORMATION REGARDING PROPOSED RELIEF REQUESTS 14R-02 AND 14R-10 EXELON GENERATION COMPANY. LLC LIMERICK GENERATING STATION, UNITS 1 AND 2 DOCKET NOS. 50-352 AND 50-353 By letter dated April 13, 2016 (ADAMS Accession No. ML 16104A 122), Exelon Generation Company, LLC (Exelon) submitted relief requests associated with the fourth 10-year inservice inspection interval for Limerick Generating Station (LGS), Units 1 and 2. Specifically, Exelon submitted relief requests 14R-01, 14R-02, 14R-05, 14R-06, 14R-07, 14R-08, 14R-09, 14R-10, 14R-11, 14R-12, and 14R-13. With respect to relief requests 14R-02 and 14R-10, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff has reviewed the information the licensee provided that supports the proposed relief requests and would like to discuss the following issues to clarify the submittal. Vessels and Internals Integrity Branch (EVIB) Reviewer: Ganesh Cheruvenki EVIB-RAl-1 Relief request 14R-02 proposes an alternative to the requirements of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code (Code),Section XI, "Rules for lnservice Inspection of Nuclear Power Plant Components," Tables IWB-2500 and IWB-2500-1, concerning reactor vessel internal (RVI) components (i.e., B-N-1, interior of reactor vessel, B-N-2, welded core support structures and interior attachments to reactor vessel and B-N-3, removable core support structures). The NRC staff requests that the licensee provide the following information: (a) previous inspection results of the ASME Code,Section XI RVI components at LGS Units 1 and 2; (b) inspection coverage; (c) corrective actions (if any) taken to ensure structural integrity of the components. EVIB-RAl-2 Relief request 14R-10 proposes an alternative to the requirements of the ASME Code,Section XI, Table IWB-2500-1, concerning nozzle-to-vessel weld and nozzle inner radii examination requirements. a) Please provide information related to the inspections that have already been performed on the components for which this alternative is requested. In addition, include all indications that were found and how these indications were dispositioned. If no indications were found during any inspections, please state so. b) Please provide information regarding the extent of inspection coverage that was obtained to date for nozzle-to-vessel welds and nozzle inner radii at LGS, Units 1 and 2.
