OF TELEPHONE CONFERENCE CALL HELD ON FEBRUARY 23,2012, BETWEEN THE U.S. NUCLEAR REGULATORY COMMISSION AND EXELON GENERATION COMPANY, LLC, CONCERNING REQUESTS FOR ADDITIONAL INFORMATION PERTAINING TO THE LIMERICK GENERATING STATION, LICENSE RENEWAL APPLICATION The US. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC or the staff) and representatives of Exelon Generation Company, LLC held a telephone conference call on February 23,2012, to discuss and clarify the staff's requests for additional information (RAls) concerning the Limerick Generating Station license renewal application. The telephone conference call was useful in clarifying the intent of the staff's RAls.
Enclosure 1 provides a listing of the participants and Enclosure 2 contains a listing of the RAls discussed with the applicant, including a brief description on the status of the items The applicant had an opportunity to comment on this summary.

REQUESTS FOR ADDITIONAL INFORMATION LICENSE RENEWAL APPLICATION FEBRUARY 23,2012 The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC or the staff) and representatives of Exelon Generation Company, LLC (Exelon) held a telephone conference call on February 23,2012, to discuss and clarify the following requests for additional information (RAls) concerning the license renewal application (LRA).
Aquatic Ecology
- 1. Possum Hollow Creek is downstream of the Limerick Generating Station (LGS) power block. Provide any sampling or monitoring reports for aquatic species and benthos from Possum Hollow Creek.
2, LGS withdraws cooling water from the Schuylkill River at the Schuylkill River pumphouse, The through screen intake velocity can influence impingement rates. Describe the through screen intake velocity for the Schuylkill River pumphouse, Discussion: The applicant requested that the staff confirm that the staff was requesting a write-up of the verbal descriptions of screen intake velocity for the Schuylkill River, as provided by URS at the Surface Water Hydrology Interview during the environmental audit. The staff confirmed that they were requesting a write-up of the verbal description provided during the Environmental Audit.
3, Provide a description of screen clearing and maintenance activities and frequency at the Schuylkill Pumphouse, the Perkiomen Pumphouse, and Point Pleasant Pumping Station.
Discussion: The applicant stated the Exelon does not own or operate the Point Pleasant Pumping Station and does not conduct the activities of screen clearing and maintenance at that facility. The applicant requested that the NRC clarify that the staff expects Exelon to provide requested information for Point Pleasant Pumping Station. The staff understood that Exelon did not own or operate the Point Pleasant Pumping Station and clarified that the staff would like Exelon to provide requested information for Point Pleasant Pumping Station if the information is available. The staff agreed to revise the RAI for clarity. The RAI has been revised to read as follows:
Provide a description of screen clearing and maintenance activities and frequency at the Schuylkill Pumphouse and the Perkiomen Pumphouse, which are owned and operated by Exelon. If available, provide a description of the screen clearing and maintenance activities and frequency at the Point Pleasant Pumping Station, which is not owned by Exelon.
- 4. Zebra mussels are a non-native species that may occur within the waterbodies from which LGS withdraws. Describe zebra mussel monitoring and survey efforts, and discuss whether LGS staff has identified zebra mussels in any of the water bodies associated with the makeup water system of LGS.
Discussion: The applicant did not have any questions regarding Items 1 and 4.
