The certificates have been renewed for an additional 40-year term that expires on February 5, 2063, in accordance with the provisions of Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations, Part 72, Section 72.40 (10 CFR 72.240). The renewal of these certificates constitutes the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commissions (NRC) approval for continued use of the NAC-MPC Storage System for storage of spent nuclear fuel under the general licensing provisions of 10 CFR Part 72, Subpart K General License for Storage of Spent Fuel of Power Reactor Sites, subject to the conditions in the renewed certificate. These conditions require the implementation of an approved aging management program (AMP) to ensure that structures, systems, and components important to safety will continue to perform their intended functions during the extended storage period authorized by the renewal.
