SUMMARY
OF NOVEMBER 3,2010, PUBLIC MEETING WITH TENNESSEE VALLEY AUTHORITY REGARDING WATTS BAR NUCLEAR PLANT, UNIT 2, FINAL SAFETY ANALYSIS REPORT SUBMITTALS On November 3,2010, a Category 1 public meeting was held between the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) and representatives of the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) at NRC Headquarters, One White Flint North, 11555 Rockville Pike, Rockville, Maryland. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss outstanding issues relating to TVA's Final Safety Analysis Report (FSAR) submittals.
The NRC staff and TVA discussed information regarding the review of the Fire Protection Report, outstanding issues in FSAR Section 9 Auxiliary Systems, and the Individual Plant Examination for External Events (IPEEE) report review.
During the discussion on the Fire Protection Report (FPR), the NRC and TVA staff discussed a new version of the FPR changes table and whether it contained an adequate level of detail.
TVA stated that they would submit to the NRC the TVA generated summary of each of the changes for each revision of the FPR, as well as the summary and conclusions of the TVA documents justifying the changes (i.e., Safety Analyses-Safety Evaluations, License Condition Impact Evaluations).
For the discussions on FSAR Section 9, TVA provided additional information on the design of the spent fuel pool cooling, component cooling water, and essential raw cooling water systems for duel unit operation as a followup to the meeting held on October 12, 2010.
The NRC staff and TVA went over proposed requests for additional information on IPEEE.
