The information is as initially received without verification or evaluation, and is basically all that is known by Region IV staff in Arlington, Texas on this date.

PLANT SHUTDOWN GREATER THAN 72 HOURS On January 4,1997, Unit 2 shut down to Mode 3 to troubleshoot and repair a feedwater isolation valve hydraulic actuator pump that was cycling excessively. Other maintenance '

activities during the outage include repairs to a hydraulic oil cooler on one of the main transformers, an offsite electrical bus outage, and maintenance on a heater drain pump and both main te9dwater pumps. The licensee expects the outage to last approximately 86 hours9.953704e-4 days <br />0.0239 hours <br />1.421958e-4 weeks <br />3.2723e-5 months <br /> and to return to Mode 1 by January 8.

The resident inspectors will monitor the licensee's activities as part of the normalinspection program.

The state of Texas will be informed.

Region IV received notification of this occurrence by telephone from the resident inspectors at 3 p.m. on January 3,1997. Region IV has informed EDO, NRR, and PA.
