SUBJECT:

DEATH OF TWO CONSTRUCTION EMPLOYEES The failure of a portable crane boom resulted in the death of two construction employees on May 17, 1976.

The crane was being used for movement of a personnel bucket (unoccupied at the time of the occurrence).

The crane became unbalanced and the failure of the boom occurred. The crane boom came to rest in the turbine mat area.

Work in the immediate vicinity has been discontinued pending j

completion of an OSHA investigation.

The constructor released information to the press on May 17, 1976, and the story has been carried by the local media.
