PREllMTNARY NOTIFICATION / YM __

November 3,1978 PRELIMINARY NOTIFICATION OF SAFEGUARDS EVENT-- PNS-78-53 This preliminary notification constitutes EARLY notice of events of POSSIBLE national security or public interest significance. The information presented is as initially received without verification or evaluation and is basically all that is known by IE staff as of this date.

FACILITY: Comanche Peak Steam Electric Station, Units 1 & 2 Texas Utilities Generating Company Somerville, Texas (DNS 50-445; 50-446)

SUBJECT:

B0MB THREAT At 1:02 p.m. on November 3,1978, the onsite operator received a telephone call from an unidentified male who stated that there was a bomb planted inside the Unit 1 containment building. The caller did not give any further details. The licensee evacuated Unit No. 1 area and began a search for the bomb. At 3:25 p.m., the search was completed and no bomb was found.

Work has resumed at the construction site.

The Sommerville County Sheriff and the local FBI were notified of the incident. The Dallas office of the FBI was notified by RIV.

I NRC, Region IV, (Arlington) received notification of this occurence by telephone, at 1:27 p.m. , November .3,1978, from the Comanche Peak resident inspector, who was on. site at the time. /
