ALL FEDERALLY RECOGNIZED INDIAN TRIBES NOTIFICATION OF THE CRYSTAL RIVER UNIT 3 GENERATING PLANT LICENSE TERMINATION PLAN PUBLIC MEETING AND FEDERAL REGISTER NOTICE (STC-23-077)

Purpose:

To provide notice of the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commissions (NRCs) hybrid public meeting on the Crystal River Unit 3 Nuclear Generating Plant License Termination Plan. The meeting will be held on December 7, 2023, 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM ET in Crystal River, Florida and virtually. Further details about the meeting can be found at:

https://www.nrc.gov/pmns/mtg?do=details&Code=20231217. The NRC also issued a notice in the Federal Register (88 FR 77111) to afford the opportunity to provide comments on the License Termination Plan until March 7, 2024. Further details about the notice can be found at:

Background:

By letter dated December 12, 2022 ( ML22355A441), as supplemented by letter dated June 9, 2023 ( ML23160A296), Accelerated Decommissioning Partners Crystal River Nuclear Power Station, LLC submitted a request to amend the Crystal River Unit 3 Nuclear Power Station operating license to add License Condition 2.C.21, License Termination Plan and adds a license condition that establishes the criteria for determining when changes to the License Termination Plan require prior NRC approval.

Discussion: The NRC is holding a hybrid comment gathering meeting where the staff will provide a discussion on the license termination process and the NRCs review. Interested parties can also provide comments on the Crystal River License Termination plan as outlined in the NRCs Federal Register Notice.
