PUBLIC SUBMISSION As of: 11/27/20 11:07 AM Received: November 23, 2020 Status: Pending_Post Tracking No. 1k4-9k97-fpxg Comments Due: November 23, 2020 Submission Type: Web Docket: NRC-2020-0234 Notice of Intent to Conduct Scoping Process and Prepare Environmental Impact Statement Virginia Electric and Power Company; North Anna Power Station, Unit Nos. 1 and 2 Comment On: NRC-2020-0234-0001 Notice of Intent To Conduct Scoping Process and Prepare Environmental Impact Statement; Virginia Electric and Power Company; North Anna Power Station, Unit Nos. 1 and 2 Document: NRC-2020-0234-DRAFT-0128 Comment on FR Doc # 2020-23463 Submitter Information Name: Robert Fullen General Comment I recommend North Anna Units 1&2 continue to generate until 2060. The world faces an enormous Job of achieving net zero carbon emissions which will largely mean electrifying end use energy fuel consumption. These net zero units are already constructed so contribute to achieving that goal already without additional investment and associated emissions. We should focus on choosing additional resources to achieve our end use goal without adding the burden of replacing existing resources.

There are many additional reasons supporting this recommendation:

1)Providing income to workers and taxes to their community; 2)Providing domestic energy; 3)Providing reliable capacity; 4)Contributing baseload resources to a mix which will be subject to more variation from sunlight and wind; 5)Cutting our risk of cost increases.

Nuclear engineers are the smartest people Ive ever met; we need to provide opportunities for brilliant people to apply their scientific education.
