This letter will confirm the revision of the schedule for the safety

, review of your application for operating licenses for the Diablo Canyon Nuclear Plant, Units 1 and 2. The changes in the licensing schedule have been necessitated by PG&E delays in submitting required informa-tion in the areas of geology-seismology and hydrology. The Safety Evaluation Report for Diablo Canyon (issued on October 16, 1974) did not include the staff evaluations of these subject areas. Because of their importance in the overall safety review of the Diablo Canyon application, the geology-seismology and hydrology evaluations must be completed before the operating license hearing can begin.

A summary of the more important revised schedule milestones is given  ;

in Enclosure No. 1. You will note from the enclosure that the date for completion of licensing effort (Prospective Decision Date) is approximately two weeks earlier than the presently estimated fuel load data for Unit 1.
