With your letter of March 26, 1976, you sutnitted velocity data related to the Western Geophysical Company offshore geophysical survey records which you had previously submitted. You requested that this information be withheld ' rom public disclosure pursuant to 10 CFR Part 2.790.

The reasons for withholding this material were state.d to be as follows:

The information contains proprietary geologic data. The information was developed at considerable expense by original research work performed by Western Geophysical Company. It is of the type that Western Geophysical Company customarily maintains in confidence and withholds from public disclosure. The releases of this proprietary data would grant competitors access to the information without incurring any expense.

We have examined the subject material and pursuant to Section 2.790(b) of 10 CFR Part 2, have approved your request.

Accordingly, pursuant to Section 2.790(b) of 10 CFR Part 2, we are j withholding the documents described above from pubite inspection. l Withholding from public inspation shall not affect' the right, if any, of persons properly and directly concerned to inspect the documents.
