1 1

Applicants respectfully request that the time for submitting the addi-tional evidence called for by the Board's Initial Decision herein be extended <

to November 15, 1965, and that the time for submitting supplemental pro-posed findings and conclusions or comments upon the edditional evidence be extended to December 1,1965. This motion is made on the ground that Applicants do not believe that they can adequately respond to the Board's order within the time allowed.

l In support of this motion, Applicants state that:

1. The Board's order requires in part that Applicants submit evidence by e

one or more qualified experts concerning a supplemented meteorological survey program plan and, in connection with supplementary information to be submitted concerning environmental surveillance, that Applicants 9705090146 970505 PDR FOIA VARADY97-34 PDR

Applicants efforts to date to prepare the additional evidence required by the Board's order demonstrate that in order fairly to meet the conditions accompanying the order an additional period beyond i

October 15, 1965, will be required. Suitable arrangements with qualified experts in the field of meteorology must be made and it l .

will be necessary for them to thoroughly review relevant background 1

! Applicants and for preparation of evidence to be submitted to the Board. -

3. Representatiws of the Arkansas State Board of Health and Applicants' expert meteorology consultants maintain their places of business at I

locations which are remote from Applicant General Electric's l Advanced Products Operation in San Jose, California. In order to l

develop a suitable response to the Board's order, it appears that one i

or more meetings will be required with representatives of the Arkansas State Board of Health and with General Electric's expert consultants.

A significant period will be required for the preparation of the site meteorology program. The geographical separation of the persons con-l cerned and difficulties inherent in scheduling the required meetings and
