Dear Sir:

On July 25, on completion of a training start-up and manually tripping the reactor, control rod number six hung up at 36.6 inchee. The rod was moved manually and then scrammed to the fully inserted position.

The rod had previously been scrateed f rom the fully withdrawn position thirty-three tires without any dif ficulty and has subsequently been droppe4]

seven times with no abnormal inoication.

The dif ficulty was reported to the Region 1 Compliance Of fice by telephone and is herewith reported in writing in compliance with paragraph 3 E (1) of the Saxton Operating License DPR-4.
