1. _ Description of Chnge An orifice has be n installed in the discharge of each safety injection pump. The orifice is velded into the discharge line where this line joins the pump at a bolted flange. A

2. Purpcse of Change This change is being made in order to keep the punp discharge pressure and capacity in the normal operating range under all operating conditions. The flow resistance of the safety injection piping is lover than expected so that the orifices are required to increase the system flow resistance to the value used in t,he Final Safeguards Report accident analyses.

3 Operating Procedure The Safety Injection System Operating Procedure i:as not been changed by the addition of theac orifices.

4. Conclusions It is our conclusion that this chaDBe does not involve a change in the Technical Specifications or any unreviewed safety question and that the health ar.d safety of the public will not be endergered by this change. t t
