Status Report on ADS Modification In a Memorandum and Order dated October 3, 1983, the Board granted LILCO's request to defer further consideration of modifications to the Shoreham ADS Logic pending receipt of a LILCO: status report on the subject on January 16, 1984. LILCO had previously advised the Board that the engineering work as-sociated with this modification had been started and that engi-neering and material procurement was projected to be completed

in late February 1984. LILCO also stated that impleinentation 4

would commence when engineering and procurement were completed if time permitted prior to fuel load. LILCO estimated that the installation would take 6 to 8 weeks to complete. See "LILCO Report Regarding Modification of ADS Logic," dated September 30, 1983.

. e.~ r At present, engineering and procurement fer the ADS modification are proceeding on schedule, and completion of

'l these tasks is anticipated in February 1984. In light of the diesel related fuel load delay and the status of diesel hear-ings, LILCO expects to proceed with and complete implementation of this modification prior to fuel load. If any future devel-j opmen.ts affect LILCO's ability to complete this modification prior to fuel load, LILCO will promptly notify the Board.

Respectfully submitted, LONG ISLAND LIGHTING COMPANY A 1 R. Taylor Re ele M I' T. S. Ellis, III Anthony F. arley, Jr.
