Byron Nuclear Power Stations Units 1 and 2 Dvron Station Security Plan NRC Docket Nos. 50-454 & 50-455 TAC Nos. 65282/65283 Enclosed are the original and three (3) copies of Revision 40 of the Byron Nuclear Power Station Security Plan. This revision reflects the 50.54(p) changes.

approved in Revision 49 of the LaSalle Nuclear Power Station Security Plan. An attachment to this cover letter provides a technical evaluation of the " Limbo System."

In addition, the following changes are being submitted:

Chapter 3 - The requirement for the security vehicle to be 4 wheel drive has been removed.

Chapter 5 The Hatches on top of the Refueling Water Storage Tanks have been secured and are no longer a portal.

Chapter 7 - The requirement for the visitor to sign the visitor register has been eliminated.

The map board display of Protected Area perimeter intrusion alarm locations has been eliminated.

Pursuant to 10CFR 50.54(p), the signed original and three copies of the Security Plan revisions are being provided to your office. A copy of this letter and two copies of the Security Plan revisions are being sent to Region 111.
