LER SUPPLEMINT INFORMATION LER NUMBER 1-78-74 DATE 9/11/78 Diesel generator Number 1 passed PT 12.2A before any maintenance work was atte=pted. However, the loss of one cylinder would possibly not allow the diesel generator to operate properly during the once per cycle ECCS load test.

The problem was detected by the exhaust temperature unbalance alar =

which was received while the diesel was running. Investigation revealed that the fuel pu=p for the Number 1 cylinder was not functioning pro-perly. The fuel pu=p was sent to Cooper Energy Services for repair and to deter =ine why the pu=p f ailed.
