On September 30, 1981, the Division of Licensing completed the review of your application dated September 21, 1981 and issued Amendment No. 6 to License No. NPF-9 for the McGuire Nuclear Station Unit 1.

This application requested Technical Specification changes relating to extension of completion l

date for qualification tests of power operated relief and safety valves. For this application, the Duke Power Company remitted a Class II fee ($1,200).

Based on information provided by the ONRR staff, as a result of their final review of your application, is has been determined that the fee should be waived for this application since approval has been given by the Commission j

which administratively extends the schedule for submittal of program results for II.D.1, Relief and Safety Valve Testing, to July 1,1982. On this basis, an exemption pursuant to 10 CFR 170.ll(b) from the fee requirements of 10 CFR 170.22 is authorized by law, and such exemption is othemise in the public interest and is hereby granted for your application dated September 21, 1981.

Therefore, we have concurrently authorized the Office of the Controller to refund to your comany the $1,200 paid for this application. Refunds are generally processed by the Office of the Controller within a two-week period.
