I 50-306 DPR-60 Status of Fire Protection Safety Evaluation Item 3.2.6 Fire Pump Enclosure Out letter dated February 9,1981 requested an extension of the completion date specified for an approved fire protection modification, item 3.2.6, fire pump enclosure.

In a letter dated February 13, 1981 from Harold R Denton, Director, Otfice of Nuclear Reactor Regulation, UShRC, an extension until June 1,1981 was approved.

Th= purpose of this letter is to provide the NRC Staff with notification that, due to circumstances beyond our control, certain portions of this work will not be completed by June 1, 19El.

While the concrete enclosure and related day tank curb has been completed, a number of items remain to be installed:

a.

Lighting in the enclosure b.

Fire detection system must be extended into enclosure c.

Sprinkler system must be extended into enclosure d.

Equipment cooler and controls must be installed in cnclosure e.

Lifting trolley rails must be installed f.

Roof and wall penetration seals must be installed g.

Door threshold must be installed (The door and frame are ins talled, but the door.must be open for ventilation until room cooler is installed)

On May 1st and 15th labor contracts for all craf t personnel (except electricians) ended and workers le f t the site. With this work stoppage, completion of the above items by June 1,1981 is noc possible.

Following settleaent of the labor contracts, we will cceplete the remaining work as soon as possible. We will continue to keep our Project Manager in the bivision of Licensing informed on the status of this work.
