DPR-42 50-306 DPR-60 Revised Schedule for Fire Protection Modifications The following information related to revised i=plementation dates for fire protection =edifications is provided in accordance with paragraph 2.C.4 of the operating licenses for the Prairie Island Nuclear Generating Plant.

Paragraph 2.C.4 requires the ec=pletion of sodifications identified in section 3.1 of the NRC's Fire Protection Safety Evaluation, dated September 6, 1979.

If any modification cannot be completed on schedule, a report explaining the circumstances and proposing a revised schedule must be submitted for NRC Staff approval.

The following =cdifications cannot be co pleted as scheduled:

Item Modification Reason for Delay 3.1.2(4) 3 coster hoses with variable Six reels, each with 100 nozzles feet of 1-inch hose, have been in-stalled. We have experienced difficulty in obtaining variable gallonage nozzles, however.

Vendors cannot provide the variable gallonage feature and at the same time certify that l

the fog density required for l

electrical safety is =aintained.

l As an alternative, we will install l

23 gpm industrial electrical fog nozzles for use with the one-inch home reels.

In additica, a 60 gpm icw capacity 1-h inch fog nozzle will be available in the brigade locker for use with standard fire hoses. The nozzles should be I

received and installed by October 31, 1980.

Strue: ural steel coating The scope of this project is larger than originally thought. Our engineer-ing consultant has prepared specifica-tions following a detailed review of the alternatives available. '4crk is n:w scheduled for completion by October 31, 1980.

3.1.6(1)

Propane cylinder relocation one of the :wo lab propane cylinders has been reloca:ed. The other cylinder, which is not in a safety related area, will be relocated prior to October 31, 1980. Approx-i=ately 250 feet of new piping are required for relocating the remaining cylinder =aking the task more difficul: than originally thought.
