DPR-42 50-306 DPR-60 Revised Schedule for Fire Protection Modifications The following information related to revised implementation dates for fire protect ion modifications is provided in accordance with paragraph 2.C.4 of the operating licenses for the Prairie Island Nuclear Generating Plant.

Paragraph 2.C.4 requires the completion of modifications identified in sect ion 3.1 of the NRC's fire Protection Safety Evaluation, dated September 6, 1979.

If any modification cannot be completed on schedule, a report explaining the circumstances and proposing a revised schedule must be submitted for NRC Staff approval.

The following modifications cannot be completed as originally scheduled:

Booster hoses with variable Booster hose nozzles nozzles have not yet been received f rom the vendor.

Booster hose stations should be installed, complete with nozzles, by July 31, 1980.

3.1.5 Fire retardant coatings An engineering consultant (1), (2) was found to be required to evaluate structural steel coatings.

Coating of poly-urethane foam piping insu-lation is now in progress.

Availability of painters has delayed this project.

All coating should be completed by July 31, 1980.

Foam application equipment Cabinets and nozzles have not been received from vendors.

We anticipate receiving these items by July 31, 1980.

3.1.11(1)

Centralized storage locker Waterproof tarpaulins, as well as most other equipment ordered for the fire brigade, have been received. A large equipment locker for dedicated fire brigade use has not yet been received from the vendor. This item should be completed by July 31, r

1980.

3.1.20(1)

Ilydrant hose valves The required valves and adapters have been installed on the eight stations adjacent to the main plant buildings.

All outdoor stations should be equipped by.

July 31, 1980.
