Region II - Suite 3100 RII: JP0 101 Marietta Street, NW 50-321/50-366 Atlanta, Georgia 30302 I&E Bulletin 80-17 ATTENTION: Mr. James P. O'Reilly Gentlemen:
The following information is submitted in response to I&E Bulletin 80-17:
In accordance with Item 2 of the Bulletin, a manual scram was performed on July 26, 1980, on Hatch Unit 2.
The scram discharge volume responded properly during this test; however, two scram level switches, 2Cll-R013A and D were found to be failed and did not respond during the test. The failure of these switches did not affect the performance of the SDV, and no other problems were noted.
Investigation of the switch failure is continuing. The data requested in Item 2 is given in Attach-ment 1.
An automatic scram will be performed today, July 31, 1980, on Unit 2.
In accordance with Item 3, SDV vent lines were verified to be functional at the conclusion of the above tests.
In _accordance with Item 4e, full operator training will be completed as of August 2,1980.
In accordance with Item 7, both units have RPT installed for both Turbine Trips and Generator Load Rejections at power levels above 30%,
as well as ATWS RPT trips at a pressure setpoint of 1120 psig and a 3
level setpoint of -38 inches. This item is therefore not applicable.
Should you have any questions in this regard, please contact this office.
Very truly,yours, eh /bc
