CESSAR-F Pre-docketing Amendment Schedule

Reference:

NRC letter from C. J. Heltemes, Jr. to A. E. Scherer dated March 23, 1979.

Dear Mr. Heltemes:

The referenced letter provided Combustion Engineering with an NRC Information request that resulted from the staff's initial acceptance review of CESSAR-F.

In that request, ten questions were stipulated as requiring responses prior to docketing. We have evaluated the necessary efforts needed to respond to these ten pre-docketing questions and can respond to all. Due to recent unanticipated drains on our resources however, we request some schedule adjustments in respond-ing to certain items. We are planning to provide in our amendment the following commitments:

A) Question 212.15 will be responded to in full, in accordance with our previous discussions, with the exception of part b of the main text of the question which requests " sequence of events" diagrams. A comitment will be provided to supply those additional diagrams by October, 1979. A listing of the particular diagrams to be supplied will be included.

B) Question 222.01 will be responded to with a commitment to supply an appendix to Chapter 15 of CESSAR-F discussing analysis methods used to evacuate the consequences of potential steamline and feedline break accidents. The appendix will be supplied within four months after the docketing of CESSAR-F.

We believe that these comitments will provide you with adequate assurance that the information in CESSAR-F will be supplemented in accordance with your request and we are proceeding on this basis. Should you feel that this approach may not be satisfactory please feel free to contact me or Dr. J. Goldberg of my staff at (203)688-1911, extension 2803.

Very truly yours, 2232 172 COMB TION ET' f RING, INC.
